Suffer the Children by John Saul
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
John Saul is one of my favorite authors so sue me, this review will be as biased as can be. lol
Suffer The Children is about a hundred year old crime that came haunting back. Kids suddenly went missing, one by one, and no one in Port Arbello had an idea what was happening. People began remembering the very old but unsolved mystery happened years ago as well as the accident which was fairly recent and dreaded the connection it has with the main characters.
John Saul never hid his antagonist, it was right there for everyone to see. The beauty of the story lies in the storytelling itself and how it unfolded. It was like you, the reader, being a voyeur, knowing all the secrets and yet you cannot tell/warn the characters. The helplessness of it is simply amazing!
I’ve read Suffer The Children for about 5 times and I won’t hesitate to read it again if I ran out of good books to read! This was the book that got me hooked with John Saul so it is getting a 5 now from me.
