ThinnerThinner by Stephen King

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thinner is about a lawyer who was cursed by gypsies who were fed up of the injustices thrown their way. William Halleck was fat and was having trouble keeping his weight down until a gypsy with rotting nose whispered “thinner” in his ears. From then on, he started losing weight.

Intending to find the gypsy and settle matters once and for all, he found out that he was not the only one that was cursed and in order to lift the curse, he must pass it to someone else.

This is one of Stephen King’s novel that made it to movies. I’m not really fond of book-to-movie/film adaptation since more often that not, the film didn’t quite capture the essence of the book but with this one, my interest was piqued and I am now hunting down a film copy of this. lol :)

You don’t just read a Stephen King novel and expect an easy ride! This book was written “Bachman” style but just the same, the author did not hesitate killing or losing some of the important characters just to make the story closer to reality – actually that’s what makes his stories scary because you just don’t know what comes next. Stephen King still tops my list! :)

This copy, I believe is only available in Kindle format. It was written by Stephen King specially for Kindle. awesome huh? :)

The story is about a college professor who absolutely loves books but was compelled to buy a Kindle to spite an ex-girlfriend who, after a shouting match, challenged the professor with words “why don’t you read books on a computer like everybody else”.

So he ordered a Kindle and received a pink one. Now the pink Kindle started spewing out weird collections of books and newspapers and then.. well..send me an email if you would like a spoiler. lol :)

a really short read and quite surprisingly, nobody got hurt in this novella. lol :) You know Stephen King never hesitates to kill his characters, important and otherwise but this time they all came out unscathed.

I really should get my own Kindle, the one with Urs. cheers! :)
